More Kudos For Caps' Deep Draft Prospect Della Rovere...
The Sporting New's player power rankings have Caps prospect Stefan Della Rovere ranked 8th in the power rankings of the Ontario Hockey League for the Week Ending October 28th. Della Rovere was drafted by the Caps in the 7th round as the 204th pick of this past summer's NHL draft but if he continues to develop at this pace could be the steal of the draft. The 18 year old Della Rovere plays for the Barrie Colts and in 10 games played has 10 goals, 5 assists including 2 game winning goals.
As the Caps continue to improve and their draft position drops, finding quality "surprises" like this will be a key to continued, long term success for the Caps. It's certainly not impossible, Detroit has been doing it for some time, but it takes solid work from the hockey operations and scouting staffs. It's nice to know the Caps have some of that, in addition to a player development pipeline that is pretty well stocked already.
Next up for the Capitals - the Ottawa Senators in Ottawa on Tuesday evening for CF (as in Canadian Forces) Night. All reports indicate Alexander Ovechkin will be back in the lineup, and hopefully, just as they rebounded from the awful season opener in Atlanta, the Caps will bounce back from Saturday night's poor play in Buffalo.
LETS GO CAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
