Well the Caps face off opposite the Florida Panthers tonight at Verizon. I'll be there with my bride in section 103, Rockin' the Red. I'm not sure what we'll see, per the news around the blogsphere, it looks like the Caps will still be short 7 who were one the opening night roster and Brian Pothier. The Panthers are struggling and have at least four of their regulars out as well.
All things being equal, it shouldn't be a night where the home unbeaten streak is in jeopardy. However, that's why, as they say, the game is played on the ice. Jose Theodore is slated to be in the net, and NHL Player of The Month Alexander Ovechkin will be dressed and ready to lead the Capitals. Panther netminder Tomas Vokoun WON'T be in the net for the Cats, instead backup netminder Craig Anderson will be facing the Caps. Anderson has been outstanding in back-to-back starts since replacing Vokoun in Florida's 3-2 overtime loss at New Jersey on Wednesday. He started for the first time in two weeks at home against the New York Rangers on Friday in the opener of a home-and-home series and made 43 saves in a 4-3 shootout loss.
The game is blacked out as the Versus Game of the Week is Philadelphia vs. Tampa Bay, so the only way you get to see it is be at the Phone Booth - Rockin' the Red - with us. The injury situation to both teams makes predicting the outcome tough but I'm still going to say it'll be:
Caps 4 - Panthers 1....
LETS GO CAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
