Caps 5 - Thrashers 4 Despite Sub-optimal Special Teams Play

A two point night, and the Caps remain firmly in first place in the Southeast Division.

The Good:

1) Two Points & Three Points Up On the Thrashers

2) Secondary Scoring All Around By The Caps

3) Jeff Schultz 3 points - 1 goal, 2 assists, +3 and 2 hits - who is this guy?

4) Shoane Morrison a game time decision - +1, 2 takeaways, 16:00 TOI

5) Apparently No One Got Hurt

The Bad:

1) Seven power play chances = zero goals scored, one goal yielded.

2) Took eight (8) minor penalties and yielded two (2) power play goals.

3) Yielded a couple of softies.

4) Barely out shot the Thrashers.

The Weirdest:

*** Jeff Schultz' goal, nice assist, Varly***

The Best:

****Survived, Got Two Points**** Bringing overall record to equal to playing 0.667 hockey...

Next up: The New York Islanders at Nassau County Veterans Coliseum in Uniondale, NY on Saturday Evening.

LETS GO CAPS!!!!

For starters, I would recommend that no one get over 1:20 ice time during any given power play. They stop being effective after a certain point.

Should our grinder line get a shot at the PP? They can't do any worse than the people we normally use.

I too found some of the power play line combos pretty baffling.

I joked that after the end of the first period, if this were a football game and I were Coach, I'd be declining all Thrasher penalties.

The Thrashers PK unit was the one thing that actually worked well everytime for either team. They didn't allow our guys to set up anything.

The absence of Semin and Gordon from the lineup really has created alot of line mixing and adversely affected the rythm and chemistry of the top two lines. However thanks to secondary scoring and a shallower bench on the Atlanta side of the ledger, the Cpas pulled it out...

These two points will still look like two points from any other win in April
